As the eldest son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna, the young Caracalla was destined for succession. Following his father’s rise to power and at barely five years old, he was named Caesar (195), imperator destinatus (197), and finally co-emperor (198), coinciding with his father’s victory over the Parthians. The reverse of the coin features Minerva holding Victoria in her right hand beside a trophy, underscoring the connection to the eastern campaign’s success.
