This mint is identified with Cazlona (Jaén), the ancient city of Castulo, capital of Oretania and an important episcopal seat. Coins are known to have been struck at this mint only under Sisenand and his successor Chintila, with both issues being extremely rare. The Visigothic presence in the area has been confirmed by numerous instances of Roman public and private buildings being repurposed, as well as by burial evidence. In a necropolis situated in the northern, upper part of the city, Roman-era houses were repurposed, and architectural elements from the nearby theatre were used in the construction of sarcophagi.
