The onzas minted in Seville during the early reign of Ferdinand VI feature the king’s first monetary portrait, created by the aforementioned Diego de Cosá. This portrait was used exclusively for the issues of 1747 and 1748, both of which are extremely rare. These coins bear two assayer’s initials, PJ (Pedro Bernardo Gordillo and José Antonio Fabra), setting them apart from their Madrid counterparts of 1747. No further onzas were minted in Seville for the remainder of Ferdinand VI’s reign.
