1821 Guadalajara, two types
Guadalajara was one of the many emergency mints created in the Viceroyalty of New Spain, but it was the only one authorized by the Mexico City mint to strike gold coinage. The issue of 1821 was the last doubloon issue produced by the royalist government, with an exclusive bust in two portrait types, one bare-headed and the other with mantle, under the assayer Francisco Sanchez (FS).
