The LATINA MVNITA (Latin Coinage) series is perhaps the best-known of all Suevic coinage. These coins bear this legend—or a portion of it—often accompanied by toponyms that can be clearly identified with cities in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula, formerly part of the Suevic kingdom. These cities are known to have continued minting coins following the Visigothic conquest. Such is the case with this coin, which features the inscription Georre (GEORRA MONITA), referring to Georres (present-day Valdeorras, Ourense). This city would go on to strike coins under Visigothic kings such as Recared I, Witteric, Gundemar, Sisebut, and Suinthila. Georres is also mentioned in both the Antonine Itinerary and the Parrochiale Suevum.
