Son and heir of Philip I the Arab and Otacilia Severa. After his father’s rise to the throne, he was named Caesar (244) at just seven years old, and later became consul and co-emperor (247). Following his father’s death in battle, he was killed by the Praetorian Guard (249). This coin features the pontifical instruments on the reverse and was previously unknown, although an antoninianus with the same reverse design is known.
